Defending Knife & Handgun Defense in Bethesda, MD
On November 12th, 2012, First Defense is holding a special Defending Knife & Handgun Defense workshop in downtown Bethesda, MD. In this class we will learn and practice a variety of defenses and tactics against an assailant using a bladed weapon or a handgun as a means of threatening or intimidating their victim.

This course, designed specifically for High School and College/University students, gives you the tools you need to avoid bad situations as well as how to protect yourself against common threats and attacks. In this 3-week course, we will introduce you to Krav Maga principles, theories, and techniques.
Pekiti Tirsia Workshops with Tuhon Rommel Tortal
Tuhon Rommel will be making his annual visit to the Northern Virginia area to train us in Pekiti Tirsia Kali. Tuhon will be covering weapons, sticks and open hand techniques developed by Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje, Jr., refined and taught pragmatically in a two day seminar.

Working in partnership with the Bridge to Freedom Foundation, First Defense will use this grant money to fund specialized programs for survivors of modern day slavery as well as increase and improve many other aspects of our studio including adding more women's training, increasing instructor training, and expanding to new locations in the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area.
