ADULT KRAV MAGA & KRAV JUNIOR
Krav Maga (a Hebrew term that translates to "contact combat") is a practical and tactical system that teaches how to prevent, deal with and overcome all kinds of threats and violent attacks. An ever-evolving system, Krav Maga excels the subjects of self-defense, self-protection, fighting and combat skills (as well as skills to defend others).
Krav Maga was developed in Israel by Imi Lichtenfeld (Sde-Or) for the newly formed Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). In order to meet the most rigorous real-world demands, Imi made sure Krav Maga utilized natural and intuitive movements, was easy to learn and remember, and was simple enough to be used effectively under stressful conditions. Adapted for civilian, law enforcement, and military sectors, Krav Maga continues to be refined under the guidance of Imi's successor, Eyal Yanilov, and other highly knowledgeable instructors.
What do we train on:
- Prevention, avoidance, escape & evasion
- Attacks and counterattacks
- Defending against all types of unarmed attacks
- Releases from all types of grabs & holds
- Defending against threats and attacks with all kinds of weapons
- Developing the ability to function effectively under stressful conditions
Adult Krav Maga
First Defense's adult Krav Maga program is designed to be a dynamic, full-body workout while simultaneously educating the student on essential self-defense and self-protection principles, tactics and techniques. We have classes for all experience levels, including a special apprentice program for those wanting to teach Krav Maga under First Defense.
We recommend all students new to First Defense (even if you are not new to Krav Maga) try us out with our 3-class pass. Apart from getting to know our instructors and how our classes are run, you'll also gain some insight into our student community and discover if our school is the right fit for you.
For everyone not ready to jump into regular group classes, we do have an option that will teach you the fundamentals of Krav Maga in a guided, online setting. Check out our HYBRID INTRODUCTION COURSE for more information on this program.
FDKM Youth Training Programs
For our younger students, have 4 "Divisions" at FDKM which correspond to the students' age range. These are:
- Kids - Ages 5-7
- Youth - Ages 8-10
- Junior - Ages 11-13
- Teen - Ages 13-15
While there may be some overlap in material from on Division to another, content is curated to be age-appropriate and relevant to the needs of the student.
With each age group we offer two options for training Krav Maga at FDKM. The first is the more traditional, in-person Youth Krav Maga Program. The student attends classes at regular times each week, develop physical skills, work on personal development topics such as communication and stress management, and work towards achieving ranks in the system. The second option is our Youth Development Coaching Program. This program was developed as an online substitute for in-person training (though there are opportunities to train in person, if you choose). The Coaching Program is self-paced and more individualized than the traditional program, allowing the coach to work more directly with the student.
