First Defense Youth Krav Maga Program
Our Krav Junior program mirrors the philosophy of our adult Krav Maga program - a focus on the development of physical, technical, tactical and mental skills. In each age appropriate class, we will work on:
- Krav Maga skills (technical proficiency)
- Motor skills
- Theoretical knowledge
- Attention & awareness skills
The rationale behind KMG's Youth Program is 2-fold -
- Against threats and attacks from kids of the same age, we want to see correct decision making, attempts to avoid the problem, calling for help, and fighting & self-defense skills.
- Against threats & attacks from adults, we want to see correct behavior for prevention, running away from danger, self-defense by surprising the attacker and running away & calling for help.
The age groups for our Youth Divisions are:
- Kids - Ages 5-7
- Youth - Ages 8-10
- Junior - Ages 11-13
- Teen - Ages 13-16 (Read more about our Teen program)
KIDS Division: Ages 5-7
Saturdays 8:45 am- 9:30 am (45 min. class)
We are excited to announce that we have lowered the minimum age to participate in our Krav Maga program to 5 year olds.
The focus for this age group is the development of motor skills, understanding options for conflict resolution, building good habits, helping others, and attention & listening skills.
YOUTH Division: Ages 7-10
Saturdays 9:30 am-10:15 am (45 min. class)
In the Youth group, students will continue working on Krav Maga and motor skills (balance, coordination, static & dynamic strength, etc), they will develop their awareness and attention skills, learn about values such as discipline, respect, helping/protecting others, & persistence.
JUNIOR Division: Ages 10-13
Saturdays 10:15 am-11:00 am (45 min. class)
Just as in the Kids & Youth Divisions, the Juniors will learn & develop Krav Maga, motor, and attention & awareness skills. Through the use of case studies & scenarios, we help our students learn how to make sound, good decision regarding their personal safety.
What Our Parents are Saying:
"Bullying is a concern for any parent with school age children. We wanted to enroll our daughter in a sport that would build confidence, while also giving her the necessary tools to protect her from bullying. We were so happy that First Defense offered a children's Krav program. Krav is a wonderful way to introduce self defense. The techniques are easy for children to learn and apply, and one of the first rules they learn is to avoid confrontation if at all possible. Our daughter has been taking classes at First Defense of over three years and she has enjoyed every moment. Thank you, Nick & Bridget, and the First Defense team for supporting our kids." -A. Jimenez
"Our son had an extremely positive experience during Sessions 1 and 2. Thank you so much for creating and maintaining a positive and professional environment for our son. Your instruction and facility were many steps beyond the basics: from your personal and group communications during each class, and from your instructional props and the training floor, the whole experience was several steps above a basic professional level that Donna and I anticipated or hoped for our son." -W.
